Tushant was hardly a day old when he started experiencing difficulties in breathing. He was born to Nandini and her husband after five years of marriage. Seeing him in such severe pain was nothing short of a nightmare. They need your support in their time of need.On May 4, 2015, Nandini and Venkatesh were blessed with a baby boy. But, their joy was short-lived. Soon after, Tushant’s health started deteriorating. As Nandini explained how her 1-year-old child has been struggling to breathe since the day he was born, she couldn’t stop crying.
Tushant Needs Round-the-Clock Care
Being a premature child, Tushant’s lungs weren’t fully developed.
He was diagnosed with chronic lung disease at Kade Hospital. From the beginning itself, Tushant’s condition has been severe, and his lungs have been too immature to breathe on their own. He was admitted in NICU for two months to eradicate infection of lungs and was discharged. However, his suffering did not end there.
"Even after being discharged, he was oxygen dependent. We had oxygen concentrator, pulse oximeter, suction machine, and nebulisation for his treatment. Moreover, he had to take multiple medicines for his lung infection," Nandini said.
After five months, he started experiencing problems in breathing again.
He had to be admitted to PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) at Manipal Hospital. He soon developed the condition of right-sided heart failure, in which the right side of his heart was unable to pump blood efficiently, making his condition even worse.
Tushant is being treated by Dr. Shivakumar Shamarao. As per his advice, Tushant’s condition needs to be constantly monitored. His right-sided heart failure has been cured. However, the ventilator support is essential to his survival.
Against all odds, Tushant hasn’t given up. Since the day he was born, he has spent most of his time in the hospital. He has endured a lot of pain. However, he has been showing some progress since last week and his condition is much better than earlier.Nandini and Her Husband are Teachers and They Have Spent All Their Money on Their Son’s Treatment
