Helpless Mother Wants To Save Her Only Baby From Death By Donating Her Liver, But Cannot Afford Transplant

“ The moment I saw my son soon after he was born, I knew that I would do anything to give him a good life. It gave me immense joy looking at my little one grow as months passed. My happiness knew no bounds when he started to crawl. But now he’s unable to even move a little because of his swollen stomach. And it grows bigger with each passing day because of his damaged liver. I want to save my son from this dangerous disease. I’m ready to donate my liver and make him healthy again. But with not a single rupee left, I fear that I won’t be able to save him.” - Mounika, mother

Little Projwal was diagnosed with jaundice when he was 3 months old and since then his health has been worsening

Residing in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, Mounika and Prasad’s were the happiest when they were blessed with Projwal. Little Projwal was always smiling and very active. However, three months after his birth, he started vomiting continuously. His parents worriedly took him to the hospital. After a few tests, he was diagnosed with jaundice. He was given medication but to his parent’s despair, his condition got worse with each passing day.

Active and healthy Projwal before he was diagnosed with Jaundice

“I gave my full care and attention to my son since the day he was born and I was extra cautious about his health when he was diagnosed with jaundice. Though he was given medicines, the jaundice didn’t go away; it just kept becoming worse. I got even more scared when his stomach started swelling up and his eyes and entire body started turning yellow.  I didn’t know what was happening to him and so I immediately took him to the hospital.” - Mounika, mother

Projwal is diagnosed with severe liver damage for which he needs urgent liver transplant

Fearing Projwal’s condition might worsen, his parents took him to a multispeciality hospital in Hyderabad, Telangana. He is diagnosed with cryptogenic chronic liver disease due to which his liver is severely damaged. Projwal’s liver is deteriorating with each passing day and he needs a liver transplant immediately. Fortunately, his mother is a suitable donor for the transplant, but money has become a major hurdle for the parents to save her son.

Every time my son’s stomach starts to swell up, we need to travel 200 km for his treatment. He doesn’t sleep at night and cries uncontrollably. I try to comfort him in every possible way, but nothing works. The doctors said the transplant has to be done within a month otherwise he will not survive. I cannot imagine losing my only son.”  - Mounika, mother

Despite mortgaging his own house, his father is struggling to meet the treatment expenses

As a granite factory worker, Prasad worked hard to provide his family with a good life. After knowing that his son is suffering from a liver disease that is threatening to take his life, he mortgaged his house just to meet the treatment expenses. He has spent 5 lakhs just for Projwal’s hospital check-ups. However, he is now on the verge of exhausting all the money he has. With the little income Prasad earns providing his only son with a life-saving surgery costing 27 lakhs is next to impossible for him.
