Every Passing Minute Is Crucial To This 1-Month-Old Baby Without Urgent Transplant

"My little baby is on the brink of death, she should be in the hospital with medical support to survive but she is in the house without any treatment because of our extreme poverty. I don't have anything left in my hand. My husband and I ran to every person we knew to save our daughter, with the money we collected we couldn't even afford to admit her in the hospital. Her rare disorder has already affected her liver and spleen and it can turn fatal any moment. It is terrible to live with the fear of losing my little daughter." - Prameela, mother of a 1-month-old baby.

This 1-month-old is fighting every second of her life

Prameela and Parmesh's happiness knew no bounds when they were blessed with their second daughter. Parmesh was determined to give her a bright future no matter how much he had to work hard. But their happiness was short-lived when their 1-month-old baby fell severely ill with high fever.

"We went to many hospitals when she was suffering from high fever. We shifted her from one hospital to another and nobody could tell what was happening to her. There was a drastic reduction in her blood count in her body every day. She was crying day and night, I did not know what to do. I tried every means of diversion I could but nothing worked. Finally, we consulted a private hospital in Bengaluru, after a few tests and keeping her in the observation for 3 days, we were told that she is suffering from immune deficiency and it is life-threatening. We broke down into tears the very moment and it is unbearable to think that my little one's condition is so critical." - Prameela.

Prameela's baby will die without an urgent transplant

This 1-month-old little baby is suffering from Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) and hepatosplenomegaly, a condition in which the body makes too many activated immune cells. The excessive immune activation can damage the internal organs completely. Prameela's baby urgently needs two months of chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant, without which she will not survive.

"My little one who just came into the world is suffering every minute. She cries the whole night with pain, she doesn't even drink milk. My daughter nearly whimpers with weakness. I don't know what to do. The doctors have told that the treatment needs to be started urgently and she has good chances to recover. But I don't know what to do and I cannot see how tiny body is fighting for its life." - Prameela.

This desperate father is left penniless and cannot save his little daughter

Parmesh is a worker in a municipal office, he barely earns Rs 6000 a month. He is the sole breadwinner of the family and he struggles to run the house with his little income. He has spent all his savings and also borrowed a large sum of money from his friends. The family is burdened with debt and have nothing left to afford the surgery which costs 22 lakhs.

"All the earnings and the money we borrowed only helped us for the diagnosis. Never in our lives, we thought poverty would be such a big problem in our lives. Our newborn is suffering and we are unable to do anything. We feel distressed and helpless. We have tried everything that we could do and now we have exhausted everything. We have spent 4 lakhs until now. Now we are only left with empty hands to pray for help." - Prameela.
