Mounika is a 26-year-old mother of 2 little children. She weighs just 20 kilos. While she should be caring for her young ones, she is fighting for life. She needs an urgent surgery to survive.
Until 9 months ago, Mounika was leading a healthy happy life. 4 years ago, she married Jaital who works as a news reporter in Hyderabad. The couple could not wait to start a family. They rejoiced when their children were born.
"Soon after we had Rishith, Mounika complained of a throat infection. It got so bad that she could not eat or drink anything for 2 months. Starving caused her to losing weight at an alarming rate. She came down to 20 kgs. I was terrified, and even the doctors worried for her life."
Her life has completely collapsed after she succumbed to this illness
Mounika worked as a computer teacher at a school. Now, she spends her time at home. She is so weak that she cannot even stand, so going to work is out of the question. Right now Mounika has a feeding tube inserted into her abdomen to give her body nutrition. Now she gets liquid diet through the tube and supplementary injections. She is not able to eat or swallow anything.
"She is hardly able to swallow water. My children keep asking what is wrong with their mother. Everyone at home feels bad seeing her in so much pain."
A Surgery Can Save Mounika's Life
The feeding tube is only the first step in Mounika's recovery. She needs a second surgery to get closer to the cure.
Doctors have scheduled an operation on October 20th. This surgery will take part of the intestines and connect it to Mounika’s upper body and throat. This is to ensure that she can eat properly and recover her health.
