A Little Hope Goes A Long Way

What's better than one person making a difference? Many people making a difference. Since our inception in 2010, Milaap lenders have impacted almost 50,000 lives through almost $1.36 million in loans. In just a few years, we've come a long way... and in 2014, we have an ambitious new goal.As you know, we've partnered with the ASSET India Foundation, which provides women (and their children) rescued from trafficking with life skills and opportunities, to create "The Hope Project."  This year, our goal is to raise $100,000 to help former Devadasis rebuild their lives and start their own businesses. If you've been following our news, you'll know that Devadasis were (and are) rural Indian women who, because of a centuries-old tradition (outlawed but still prevalent) were (and are) “dedicated” to serve their temple deity for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, the system was abused, and many were forced into the sex trade. If we all come together, we can truly make a difference in the lives of these hardworking women. But we need help from smart, cause-passionate, digitally savvy global citizens willing to motivate their communities to tell these stories. If that sounds like you, will you consider joining #HopeProject as a Champion of Hope? We'll give you all the tools you need to inform and inspire your communities to collectively lend a little and truly change a lot.Interested? Read more in the news release we issued today, look at some of the businesses you can invest in, or if you're ready to be a Champion, go ahead and sign up here.Thank you!
