6-month-old Baby Marwa Lanika is a blessing and joy to her family. The happiness of her arrival did not last for a long time. She was diagnosed with a congenital liver disease called ‘Biliary Atresia’. This is a fatal liver disease in infants. She has to undergo a liver transplant within 1 month to survive.
She underwent a surgery when she was 2-months-old but it was termed failure
Marwa Lanika is the only child of Jainulabudeen and Sherin Banu. Within few days of her birth, she developed jaundice. She was kept in an incubator. Later, blood tests and scans confirmed that she has liver failure and a disease called ‘Biliary Atresia’ in which one or more bile ducts are abnormally narrow, blocked or absent. She underwent ‘Kasai’ procedure when she was just 2-months-old. She returned home after the surgery. But within a month she had unusual on-and-off episodes of fever and her stomach became swollen. They rushed her to the hospital. She had frequent hospitalization due to a very low immune system.
Doctors said that her condition is very critical and only a liver transplant can save her life. They also insisted that the surgery needs to be done within a month’s time if not she’ll get into more complications and life will become hopeless after that. She is suffering from diarrhea, vomiting and a very low appetite. Her mother has volunteered to donate her lungs. She has just one more month time in her hands but unfortunately, the family cannot afford the treatment.

“This is the worst that could ever happen to any parent. I have only a month’s time to save my daughter’s life and I’m helpless”
They cannot afford the treatment and time is running out
Marwa Lanika’s father works as an office assistant earns only Rs 8000 per month. He and his wife are totally shattered. The expenses for medication, blood tests, and doctor visits are currently going through the roof and they do not see a light at the end of the tunnel yet. Her mother is emotionally exhausted and she hardly eats and sleeps. The very thought of running out of time to save her child’s life make her restless.
‘I have given everything I had and I borrowed from everyone I could. I don’t know what else to do. I can’t lose my child for lack of money”
How you can help
Marwa Lanika deserves a life. She has been in the hospital ever since she was born. She was sent home with a condition that she should undergo a surgery within a month. Fortunately, her mother turned out to be a matching donor for her but now all they need is funds to go for the surgery. Her father has exhausted all the means. Now he needs Rs 22 lakhs for the liver transplant. Only your contribution can save this little one.Supporting Document
