She also leads a 5-woman entrepreneurial group called "Bahuchar Mahila Mandal". Farzanaben Juneja is an inspiring young woman from a small village next to Dhrangadhra called Ambedkarnagar. A couple of years ago, Farzanaben attended a one-month course in basic stitching and designs. Since then, she has been accepting orders for ghagras, dresses and blouses that she tailors on demand. She also does some independent work from scraps of cloth that she buys from the wholesale market.
Depending on the season and need, she designs them accordingly and sells the clothes from home. Her husband, a mechanic who fixes punctures, helps her get the raw materials from Surat, once every month.
She makes about Rs.400 to Rs.500 per week. It was a pleasure meeting demure Farzanaben and her 4 cute little children between the ages of 8 and 3, who immediately recognized the field officer who accompanied me and ran upstairs to call their mother when they saw us at the door.
