This 2-month-old Was Born With A Horrible Heart Defect That Might End His Life Without An Urgent Surgery

Naitik is 2 months old. Instead of being coddled by his parents and discovering this new world, he is fighting for every breath in the ICU on the ventilator. Unfortunately, Naitik was born with a heart defect. He has already had one surgery and needs another open-heart surgery to survive. His father, a plumber, is now fraught to save his life.

One month old and chased by death

Mohit and Mamta could not have asked for more when their son was born. They were on cloud nine right from the day he came home, but things turned around very soon. Naitik was just 1-month-old when he began having trouble breathing.

“I could see his nostrils flaring. It was as if he was trying to get all the air in the room. I was watching my son suffocating. I called an ambulance and took him to the hospital. The doctor said he had a heart problem and he needed a surgery immediately. Unfortunately, no hospital in Dehradun was equipped to perform the surgery. We were referred to Apollo Delhi.”

As far as he knows, breathing is painful

As soon as they reached Delhi, Naitik was rushed into the ICU. He was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect where he had a coarctation of the aorta (where the aorta, a major blood vessel carrying blood from the heart to the rest of the body, is narrow) and a large VSD (hole in the heart causing mixing of blood).

“There was no time to waste. There was no time to arrange for money. We had to sign the consent, and he went in for surgery. He had one surgery that day to first fix the aorta. He has been on the ventilator ever since.

Time is ticking and we need to act soon

Now that his heart is able to pump blood to the rest of the body, Naitik has another huge problem that needs to be fixed – the big hole in his heart that is causing bad blood (blood with less oxygen) to be distributed. So, he is struggling to breathe. He needs a major surgery to fix the hole as soon as possible, otherwise, his little body will succumb to the disease.

How can you help?

Mohit had to mortgage his small piece of land, sell his wife’s jewelry and exhaust his savings to pay Rs. 1.5 lakhs. He still has an outstanding bill, and also cannot afford the next surgery. As a plumber, he makes just Rs. 150/day and having to be in Delhi for treatment, he has no source of income. The total cost of treatment is estimated to be Rs. 8 lakhs, and Mohit needs your help to get through this tough time.

Naitik came into this world suffering, but with your help, he can live without pain. Contribute now and save his life.
