Unfortunately, Gaytriben M Thakor of the Abhi Mahila Mandal was out of town the day I went to visit her, but I was able to meet another member from the group - Gitaben Patni Praveenbhai. Gitaben took the Milaap loan of Rs 10,000 to buy a vegetable cart. Her husband already owned two vegetable carts and this was the family's only source of income. Gitaben decided to contribute and so she took the loan. She decided to follow her husband on rounds and do what they did best.
They buy the vegetables in wholesale from Sardar Patel Market in Jamalpur. Now, with the extra carts, they will be able to generate more profit and as a result buy more in wholesale. Gitaben has two sons, one of whom is in the village and the other is at a job in Ahmedabad.
