Save 40 Blind Girls From Losing The Roof Over Their Head

Maa and Papa weren’t the happiest when I was born. They thought I was a burden to them. My villagers said I had brought bad luck to the family. They thought I’ll never amount to anything because I was not only a girl but also born blind. I wanted to prove them wrong. But I needed help. I wanted someone to guide me and tell me how to make my dreams come true. I felt hopeless. Blind Welfare Society (BWS) helped me believe in myself and gave me a safe space to chase my dreams. Today I have a successful banking career, ” says Allah Rakhi, a former resident of BWS.

The life of a blind girl child in many pockets of India is full of hurdles. Families feel burdened and often abandon or neglect them. BWS accommodates 40 such visually impaired girls who are pursuing their studies in various schools/colleges across Delhi. But COVID-19 has had a devastating effect on BWS.
They are facing a severe financial crisis which makes it difficult to meet all needs and are on the verge of shutting down - and need help to survive.  Your contribution can support the girls in their hostel with nutrition, education, and healthcare.

BWS is striving to improve the quality of life for visually challenged girls through education, employment, and free accommodation.
Most of these girls come from families whose incomes fall below the poverty line. We provide shelter, nutritious food, and free medical care. These visually impaired girls also need training and mentoring to meet their academic goals as well as job-seeking support once they graduate. To help them prepare for the competitive exams, we also provide a number of technological tools such as DVD players, Daisy players, and Braille Books to supplement their learning process and also the required writer’s fee for representatives,” says Dheeraj Bhola, founder.

Give 40 blind girls wings to their dreams. BWS spends roughly ₹1.74 lakh on each girl per year to make sure they receive proper nutrition, educational support, free accommodation, and healthcare. But because of the financial crisis created by COVID-19, BWS is in dire need of support to keep its gates open for every aspiring visually challenged girl.
