This Helpless Mother Is Desperate To Save Her 1-Month-Old Who Struggles For Every Breath

Every time the machines in the ICU beep, my heart skips a beat. I fear that the doctors would tell me that my son is no longer with us. I keep staring at his face and try and observe every little change, I fear that if I miss even a second, something serious might happen. I think about the time I was pregnant with my son and how I happy my husband and I were planning everything. And then, this happened - now my baby struggles even to breathe, I don’t know when I can take him home.” - Jyotsna, mother.

Only few days after the baby was born, they had to rush him to the hospital because of his worsening conditions

Jyotsna had a normal delivery and everything was fine with her and her baby boy. But things started changing for the worse when her husband, Debashish and she noticed that the little baby was sneezing and coughing. They thought that it was common cold that will go away but that did not happen. Very soon the baby started having severe breathing problems and the parents were left with no other choice but to rush him to the hospital.

“He was breathing so hard and I could see that even the simple act of breathing has become very difficult for him. The moment the doctors saw him, they admitted him and placed him in ventilator. My eyes teared up as I looked on helplessly as the nurse took him away from my arms.” - Jyotsna.

The young father has left no stone unturned but still is unable to arrange the money required for his baby boy’s treatment

Jyotsna and Debashish’s 1-month -old baby boy has been diagnosed with acute viral pneumonia and is suffering from respiratory failure. The baby needs to stay in PICU for at least 10 days to get completely cured and get back home in good health.

“I work in a small shop and my meagre earnings are not enough to support my family. I have already spent about a 1 lakh for my baby’s treatment and all of that have been borrowed from friends and relatives. I don’t know how I will be able to repay them. The stay at hospital would cost me around Rs 3 lakhs - there is absolutely no way that I will be able to arrange for so much money.  My 5-year-old daughter Debasmita misses Jyotsna terribly and there is nothing I do to comfort her. I am torn between work, my little daughter and my sick baby boy for whom I can do nothing.” - Debashish.
