Even though in most cases dengue can be managed at home, Mujeeb is one of the unlucky 4% whose body goes into a shock because of the infection. Mujeeb's parents are in stunned at seeing him unconscious and admitted to the intensive care unit.

But Yakhub is just as worried that he will not be able to afford Mujeeb's treatment which can run up to Rs 1 lakh a day. For just two days, he has needed to borrow Rs 3 lakhs. A part of the bill is still pending and Yakhub doesn't know how he will arrange to pay for treatment.

“Mujeeb is an active, healthy boy so to see him like this is very painful. My wife keeps crying, but I try to tell her that everything will be okay. Both of us cannot be weak when our son needs us so much. So I confidently tell them that Mujeeb will be fine,” explains his father Yakhub.

“I am an RTC conductor in Hyderabad. I earn only Rs 15,000 and I have spent everything we had on treatment till now. The doctors have told us that Mujeeb will get better if his condition is monitored but if I don't get money, my situation will be the reason my son doesn't get better,” Yakhub says.
