This 10-month-old Needs An Urgent Liver Transplant To Stay Alive For His 1st Birthday

My 10-month-old son has been suffering since he was born. He has needed this surgery since when he was 4 months old. His liver function had reduced to 20% at the time. We have been trying to mobilize funds for the surgery. 6 months passed, and now his condition has deteriorated. He needs a liver transplant immediately to stay alive for his 1st birthday. - Radhey Shyam Sharma If we had known before, we could have saved him from all this painKuldeep was just 2 months old when he had a brain hemorrhage. Mamta and I were in shock. We thought we were going to lose him. We rushed him to the hospital in Bikaner. Eventually, he got better. That was just the beginning. He kept falling sick, and even the doctors in Bikaner equipped to understand it. Our friends suggested we take him to Jaipur.

Only at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital we were told that his symptoms had to do with liver disease. After a biopsy, they confirmed that Kuldeep’s liver was failing. He was 3.5 months old, and Kasai procedure which works usually for infants under the age of 3 months was now out of question because his liver function was at 20%.Nothing would have fixed the damage.

This transplant is his only option, but we have not been able to afford it

My baby boy was vomiting every time he had milk. His eyes were yellow. His body was turning yellow. His stomach was slowly bloating at the time. We were referred to Apollo, Delhi, to discuss further options. The doctor there said that the only hope for Kuldeep is a liver transplant. Even medicines could not help him.
Our BPL card was yet to be processed. We asked for some time to arrange for the money as the surgery is estimated to cost us Rs. 12.5 Lakhs. I work in a masala factory. I’m not educated, so the maximum salary I can ever get is Rs. 10,000. With that I take care of my father, brother, sister, wife and son. My siblings are studying. I want them to have a good career. Kuldeep’s medical expenses sum up to Rs. 2000 every month. We are hardly able to save a few hundreds.

His condition is now critical and we cannot delay any longer

In these 6 months, things have gone from bad to worse. It is a liver problem, so it makes Kuldeep itch a lot. You cannot tell a baby not to itch. Even from afar you can see how yellow he has turned. He is not active, does not crawl or even sit like other 10-month-olds. He has not been getting nutrition from milk, so he has not grown much. It pains me to see my baby like this.

How can you help

We do not have anyone else to support us. We are struggling financially. I would have never even dreamed of stepping into a hospital like Apollo before. This is about my son’s life. He is not even 1-year-old. He has been in pain ever since he was born. His cries express his suffering. I want to do all I can as a father to save him, and give him a life he deserves.

We are short on cash, and we are short on time. We have tried everything. You are our last hope.
Your contribution can help our son stay alive.
