This Son Is Struggling To Bring His Ailing Father Back Home

I am 27-year-old Taher Arsiwala. I consider my 52-year-old father Shamun Arsiwala to be the greatest gift I could have ever received from God. Therefore, this September 11, 2017, when I had to rush my father to a local hospital in Satara at midnight, I was terrified beyond words.

Shamun is fighting for his life at the moment

A critical diagnosis

My father has been a diabetes patient for a very long time, since he was young. He also occasionally had high blood pressure, but little did we knew his ailment would take such a deadly turn. That night, my father complained of an unbearable headache. Seeing his pained state, we rushed him to the hospital.

Upon reaching there, we were told that my father had a brain hemorrhage and the chances of survival were minimal. I didn't want to take any risks, so we shifted him to a bigger hospital in Vadodara. There, the doctors gave us more hope. He underwent surgery and fought like a champion that he is. He came out better but due to an infection in his brain, he slipped into a coma. What was supposed to be a week's stay turned into a month long struggle!

Now, my father is finally showing signs of improvement. He has started to open his eyes but still can not stay awake or conscious for a longer period of time. The doctors say that the best way to wake him up is to take him back home where he is with his family and loved ones.

Family of humble means

The hospital bill keeps mounting and we are unable to arrange for it. I and my brother are the only working members in a family of six. Our combined monthly income is Rs 30,000. We have absolutely no savings as we both have just started our careers and families.

My mother was a teacher, but it has been years since she worked. We are finding it difficult to arrange for funds required for my father's discharge.

How can you help?

Help Shamun go back home to his family and recover. All funds raised through will go towards his treatment.
