Shahria has always loved reading books and writing her own stories. Her most prized possession is a diary in which she journals all that she is going through - her everyday pain, how she wants to go back home to her brothers.“We tried hiding the truth from her, told her it was just a fever. Her entire school came together to help her but it’s not enough
Her teachers adore her for her brilliance, her friends love her for being fun-loving. They were all shocked when 4 months ago, they got to know that Shahria has Acute Myeloid Leukemia - a dangerous form of blood cancer.“They know we won’t be able to afford her treatment on her own. My husband is an electrician, his income is just enough to support our family of four. Shahria’s school teachers and friends collected over a lakh to help her. We even sold our house for 8 lakhs. Shahria runs a high temperature, sometimes she can’t even breathe without the oxygen mask. Her blood pressure keeps rising and she complains of severe pain in her stomach. The cancer is spreading and it is getting worse with every passing day.
