The Clock Is Ticking For 5-Year-Old Safa Who Needs An Urgent Transplant In 24 Hours

Samshudin keeps looking at his watch while he is running around trying to fix all the formalities before his 5-year-old daughter, Safa is wheeled into the operation for a liver transplant. Safa is critical, she doesn’t have much time to live. Her liver is shutting down - only a transplant can save her now.

She is dying in front of my eyes, how can a father look at that and do nothing about it? But the cost ..the cost is too much. I can never afford that,” - sobs Samshudin.

7 days - that’s all it took for Safa…

Safa was recovering from jaundice - she had it a month ago. The medicines were working and she was slowly getting back her appetite. Samshudin and Thaslin were happy - but their happiness was short-lived.

“It happened last week. She suddenly started crying out in pain, holding her stomach. She was vomiting continuously. Her entire body had turned yellow. I thought she won’t live,” - Thaslin, mother.

They took Safa to Chennai in an ambulance and reached when it was past midnight. She was admitted to the ICU. Since then, she has been in immense pain. Her only hope - a liver transplant.

The only thing she has had in the last few days are a few drops of water

Little Safa has Wilson’s Disease - a condition in which the copper in the body doesn't get eliminated properly. Instead, it accumulates, damaging the liver. She hasn’t been able to eat or drink anything for the last few days. In fact, she has almost stopped talking.

“I keep sitting beside her, calling out her name but she doesn’t respond. Tears roll down her eyes constantly, she must be in so much pain! The doctors said that I can donate my liver to save her but the money…?” - says a worried Thaslin.

The clock is ticking and Samshudin doesn’t have enough to save his daughter

Samshudin works in a courier office, makes about Rs 10,000 in a month. He has been doing everything in his power to save Safa. They even sold the little gold jewellery they had and borrowed from relatives - that’s how they managed to pay 3 lakhs.

“But I need 19 lakhs more! I need your help, my Safa will not live otherwise…”

She has only a day to get a life-saving transplant but her parents don't have the money - your generous contribution can save this 5-year-old
