A Rare Disease Is Killing Babies In Their Family, But They Can Save Their Son With Help

When you look at baby Prabhajot, you don’t think there’s anything wrong with him. In fact, he looks like a happy, healthy baby. He has a cold and fever every other week, but that seems normal for a small baby like him, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, that’s the scariest thing about the disease he has – even a common cold, the smallest of infections can be fatal. This is all too familiar for Kulwant and Sarabjit, they know what can happen if he doesn’t get treated in time. And they breakdown every time they think about it.

“He has one month to get a bone marrow transplant. Otherwise, we will lose him like we lost our baby boy a few years ago. He had the same symptoms, he went through the same pain…but we didn’t know the disease he had, we couldn’t save him. But we have a chance to save Prabhajot.” – Kulwant, father

Something was killing the babies in their family, and no one knew what it was

Kulwant and Sarabjit are not the only ones that lost a child in their family. Sarabjit’s sister lost her babies too, but no one could tell them why. When Prabhajot started falling sick often, Kulwant realized that there’s something wrong.

“I told the doctor about the babies in our family…and how we had lost so many. We’re poor and haven’t studied anything at all, we didn’t know it was a disease killing all of them. The people in our village told us it was normal..”

The doctors soon told Kulwant that their baby has severe combined immunodeficiency, due to which his body can’t even fight mild infections. His immune system is extremely weak. The only thing that can save him is a bone marrow transplant.

This time, there is hope but no money – only you can save their baby

Kulwant and Sarabjit are not only living in fear every day, but also immense guilt – for not being able to save their first baby boy and now, not being able to afford Prabhajot’s treatment. Life has once again brought them to the same crossroads. This time, there is hope but no money.

“I’m a farmer. How much do we even make? There’s nothing…sometimes I earn 200 rupees in a day. You know how much a bone marrow transplant costs? Lakhs and lakhs. I don’t have that much…I never will.”

This is the only hope that baby Prabhajot has. This is his only chance and you can give it to him. Your support will save this 6-month-old baby’s life.
