This Mother Fighting To Save Her 3-month-old Son’s Life For The Second Time Asks For Help

My son, Mogith, was a premature baby, born at 27 weeks. He had to be on the ventilator for over 45 days after he was born. He survived. We brought him home after a long wait. Everything was fine for a month. I never imagined we would be back in the hospital fighting to save him again.

We thought the worst was behind us when we brought him home

It was a normal delivery. I remember the pain all too well, unable to touch my newborn child, hold or feed him. It felt like a miracle when he came home with us. He spent a month in my arms. When I did not have him, my husband did.

Suddenly one day, he had vomiting. We had to admit him to the hospital. He got better in 2 days, and just as they were going to discharge him, he began coughing up. Mogith was diagnosed with pneumonia. He has been on the ventilator for 10 days.

He cannot survive without that ventilator

The doctors say that his lungs are infected and without the ventilator, we would lose Mogith. He is always sedated. When it wears off, he stirs around trying to fight the tubes, and then we have to sedate him again. We struggled so much to save him once. It is tearing me apart to see my son struggling to survive for the second time. I want to do everything possible to bring him back home, this time for good.

My husband, Vijayakanth is a mechanic. He makes Rs. 15,000/month. We had some savings amounting to Rs. 3.5 Lakhs and we exhausted that on hospital bills. Every day, we are trying to arrange money to keep him in the ICU. We cannot even move him to a government hospital because he needs the ventilator here.

We have nowhere else to go for help

I am a staff nurse at GH, now on leave with loss of pay. My husband is working several shifts to make the bills. My mother-in-law is taking care of our 4-year-old son, Nidulesh. We are all struggling to just save Mogith. No child deserves to be in this position. He just needs a chance to live. I do not know who else I can go to and ask for help.
Please, we have done everything we can, and now we need your support to save my baby boy. Your contribution can help us continue treatment and bring Mogith home.
