After Husband Abandoned Her At The Hospital, This Mother Struggles To Save Her Newborn

"My husband left the hospital saying he will be back in a few hours. He said he was going to buy medicines for the baby. It’s been a month now and he hasn’t returned. He’s not even picking up my calls. The last time I heard about him was from one of my relatives who said he found him drunk somewhere. He abandoned me and our child in the hospital when we needed him the most. Now my little boy is fighting for his life and I don’t know how I’m going to save him. I can’t bear to lose another child" – Banupriya, Mother

He was only 600 grams at birth

Banupriya’s baby boy was born prematurely a month back due to complications with her blood pressure. He weighed only 600 grams and has severely underdeveloped lungs. He is on the ventilator to help his breathing. To survive, the baby needs continuous treatment for the next two months.

I already had four miscarriages and I can't bear to lose another child

"All I wished for was to have a baby and become a mother. I don’t know why God is being cruel to me. I had four pregnancies earlier and none of the babies survived. Two of them were pre-term births. Before I could even hold them in my hands they were taken away from me. I hoped at least this time God would answer my prayers when I gave birth to my baby boy. But I feel like I'm cursed now."

Her aged parents are the only support she has

It's Banupriya’s old parents who are there with her, being her strength, consoling her and trying to help her with the treatment. Her father is a daily wage labourer who earns only Rs.300 per day. He has now pawned his house, begged and borrowed money in his village for the treatment. They have to pay Rs. 10,000 per day for the medicines and treatment alone. Her father has spent around 3 lakhs so far. The baby needs to stay in the ICU for another two months and his total treatment cost would come around 11 lakhs, which is impossible for her father to afford.

"I feel really bad watching my parents struggle so much for me and my baby. But I want to take my baby home and raise him to be a brave boy. I’m doing everything in my strength to save his precious life. But I know that I don’t have enough money to save his life. My only hope is that God won’t fail me this time and will show us a way to save my child’s life."
The baby has been receiving treatment for a month now. So far, he is responding well and he has high chances of survival. With constant care and medications, Bhanupriya can take her baby home within two months. However, she might lose him if she cannot afford the treatment.

Please help this struggling mother who wants to save the life of her little baby boy. Your little contribution will give her hope and a reason to live in spite of all the suffering
