It was a pleasurable meet with Jayanti Swain, a beneficiary of Milaap education loan on 17th January, 2015. Jayanti lives in Mahavir Basti of Baramunda suburban area in Bhubaneshwar. The woman sitting on the left in the picture is Jayanti. She and her husband make incense sticks, candles and cleaning solutions and supply them for sale to grocery shops in the local market. She has also been employing 2 workers for the purpose of mixing the raw materials and selling the products in the market. Almost 10 months back, Jayanti had taken education loan from Milaap for funding the education of her son Sunil. The loan funding was used for paying the college admission fees and tuition fees. The Milaap funding had helped her enrolling her son in school otherwise she would have had to discontinue her son’s education due to financial constrictions. She had a good experience in dealing with the Milaap and its field partner and expressed hope that in future she would be able to avail the loans of larger amounts considering her timely repayment record.
