Even Before Her Parents Could Properly Cradle Her, 1-Month-Old Sunita's Baby Was Taken To The ICU

"After birth, she was home only for 3 days. I am scared that she won't be back ever again", said Sibu Das
Instead of being at home and coddled by her parents, Sunita's 1-month-old baby is awarded a rather gloomier fate. She is alone in the hospital ICU, surrounded by the beeping sounds of monitors and the agony of needles piercing her tiny organs. Braving a plethora of problems, the baby has recently developed jaundice and is struggling to come out alive.

The Little One Had To Undergo Surgery Right After Birth

The baby of Sunita Das was operated on the 7th day of life for a complex congenital heart disease on an emergency basis. The baby was admitted on 24th and operated on 26th October 2017. Post surgery, the baby was put on a ventilator for few days until the doctor could confirm her recovery. As the surgery was a major and complex procedure, the baby has developed jaundice and hepatomegaly and is recovering in the ICU. As of today, it's been 28 days since the baby has been in the hospital.
"The doctors say that my baby is in serious condition and we have to do our best to ensure her survival. We are extremely worried. Our kids mean the world to us, and if anything happens to them, we won't able the bear the consequences of it", said the father, Sibu Das.
The baby is extremely susceptible to infections and requires constant monitoring by experts. This little one needs to heal on her own now and she needs to do it with medical support.

Family of Humble Means

Sunita and Sibu Das are from Andhra Pradesh. They have an elder 6-year-old son. Sibu is the sole earning member of the family and works as a worker in a small jewelry shop. So far, they have managed to pay Rs 1.5 lakhs as hospital bill but now they are finding it difficult to arrange for more funds. The estimated hospital bill is Rs 6 lakhs and the family has no avenue left to arrange for it.

"There is no money left. If there was, what father would let her kid die? We are done borrowing from our friends and relatives, now even they are shrugging us off. We have no resources left, and I understand that this has put my baby's life in danger", said Sibu.
