Baby Born With A Hole In His Stomach Is Fighting To Survive Even After 2 Major Surgeries

“When my 7-year-old feels hungry and I ask him what he wants to eat, he tells me ‘Papa, save the money to bring Chotu home first. I will not die if I am hungry’. I stand perplexed staring at him blankly. I don’t understand what should I tell him. I think just like us even my son, Pranjal can’t eat his food thinking about our newborn.”

The father’s dreams shattered right after he held his newborn

Ranjeet and Raj Kumari were preparing to welcome their second baby for the past few months. All Ranjeet wanted for his new baby was to give him education so that his child doesn’t live a life of poverty like him.

“When my baby boy was born in April, I cried because I was so happy. I can’t stop crying now because I know my baby is between life and death. After his birth, when we did the USG, we got to know that there was a cyst in his belly. He also had a hole in the stomach. We thought the surgery would fix him, but that didn’t happen.”

Hospital corridors are the only shelter for these parents

After the baby underwent surgery in Nagpur, the doctors told the new parents that his life was still in danger. Even after the second surgery in Hyderabad, he has a hole in his stomach. It is very difficult for the parents to see a green liquid constantly leaking through the hole in his belly. The baby’s blood is completely infected and he is now in need of rigorous ICU care to get a chance at living his life.

"It has been a month since Raj Kumari has delivered our baby. Her body is not strong enough to take any stress. I have been sitting, waiting and sleeping in the hospital with Rajkumari and my 7-year-old son, Pranjal for month. We are ready to wait in the corridors till we can take our baby home. We can’t even have a proper meal. I choke on food if I eat because I think I can save this money and save my baby."

Having exhausted lakhs in a month, this father is now at a dead end

Ranjeet has a tractor which he used to put in rent in Chinwara, MP. He earned almost Rs 15,000 a month. He was making a modest living for his family. Right now, he pays twice his monthly earning in only a day. Since the time he has been in Hyderabad, his work has taken a backseat and his income has stopped completely. He has already spent Rs 7 lakhs and can’t even find a way to get money now.

“We don’t even have the money, how can we hope to keep our baby alive? Raj Kumari’s jewelry was the only asset we had, and it is also gone. I am trying to sell off my tractor, but can’t even find a buyer. Saying that I am in neck-deep debt is an understatement. Even Pranjal denies food because he thinks we can save that money to save his ‘chotu’. I feel so helpless.”

No effort seems to be enough to save the baby

Raj Kumari had not even overcome the pain of the childbirth. She is very disturbed and can’t even eat and sleep. The entire family tosses and turns relentlessly on the hospital floors every night, hoping to just go back home with their baby alive. For them even buying a meal is so difficult that treatment for the newborn is a far-fetched dream.

“I am ready to take up any pain to take my baby back home. I can’t even imagine that after coming such a long way, I will lose my baby. I know my life is never going to be the same again. But I am ready to do everything. All I want is to take my baby home.”

How you can help?

Raj Kumari’s 1-month-old premature baby has undergone 2 surgeries and still is not fine. Without the intensive care in the ICU, the baby will not be able to make it. The cost required to save the baby is Rs 12 lakhs.

Your support will help these parents take their baby back home.
