"My son just started calling us Amma and Acha (Mom and Dad), he started walking too. My elder son and I call him 'Kutti Krishna'. I got excited with every new word he picked up. It started as a normal fever but he soon developed pneumonia. He started falling short of breath. He has been in the ICU for the past 9 days. Every passing minute without treatment is a risk to his life but I'm helpless." - Anisha, Alankrith's mother.
Little Alankrith had fluid accumulation in his lungs and he was struggling to breathe
A few days back, 2-year-old Alankrith fell sick. He had a high fever that did not settle for a long time. He started sweating and became profoundly weak. His mother Anisha, took him to the local hospital. Â Scan reports revealed the fluid accumulation in his lungs and confirmed pneumonia. He was in ICU for 3 days but his condition became very critical and doctors asked Anisha to take to a bigger hospital."Within a week, our lives turned upside down. He had a high fever, when his water intake was reduced drastically I knew something was wrong. He was struggling to breathe, it was a scary experience. I managed to gather all my strength and took him to Kochi on my own."
He's not only fighting severe pneumonia, but also acute liver failure
Anisha found it difficult to accept that her little son who was fine a few days back is now attacked with pneumonia. But the worse was yet to come, Alankrith was soon diagnosed with acute liver failure. Anisha couldn't take it, she immediately called her husband who works as a labourer in Gulf."How much can his little body bear? Every day they give him a high dosage of medicines. When my husband came down here, my son was lying unconscious and he has not yet opened his eyes. I'm waiting for him to open his eyes, I want to hold him in my hands and never let him go. I can't bear to see him lying lifeless like this." - Anisha.
Father rushed to Cochin with the help of his friends and has spent all the borrowed money for treatment
Alankrith's father Ratheesh did not give a second thought of coming to India when he heard that his son is battling for his life. He was totally unprepared for it. With the help of his friends, he came to India. He had borrowed money from his friends and had already spent it for Alankrith's treatment. He is helpless and does not know whom to turn to help. Alankirth's condition is critical and he needs the inevitable ICU stay for one more week without which, he might not make it. " My elder son Lulu is in my relative's place. He is very close to his little brother. I have told him that he will soon be back home and he is in the hospital because he has a fever. He keeps asking about him every day. I fear I may never be able to take him back without treatment. I have given everything I had with me, I have not slept even a day since I came here, I've been running to everyone I knew yet I can't afford his treatment." - Ratheesh
