[Sept 2010 Newsletter Series] A Milaap Timeline

A lot has happened over the past three months. We have forged partnerships, vetted loans and entrepreneurs, and reached out to legion sympathetic laymen, without whom all our efforts would have ended in naught. Here is a timeline of all the significant events leading up to the Milaap pilot and beyond. Where relevant, hyperlinks are provided leading to blog posts or newsletter pages that will elaborate on the event.

Date May 31st Partnership formed with Sakhi Samuday Kosh After meeting SSK officers, Milaap agrees to source low cost loans to SSK’s micro entrepreneurs. June 16th Pilot Event Held at Singapore Management University, Orchard Road, with a presentation of the main idea, along with details and specifics. July 24th Loan disbursement Loans disbursed to SSK micro entrepreneurs Aug 10th DASRA selects Milaap for DASRA Social Impact An incubation program for social ventures looking to take their organizations to scale that involves extensive mentorship. Aug 23rd First repayments SSK micro entrepreneurs repay the first installment of their loans. Sept 15th Sneak preview of Milaap website Beta stage website allows lenders to track the progress of their loans, and also allows a limited number of new members to make low cost loans.
