Ever since the pandemic has struck us all, we (Jitendra rai and his team) have taken the onus of tirelessly lending a helping hand to the less privileged people of our society. Health and hygiene is of utmost importance and a necessity more than a privilege, The reason we have kept our social drives women centric as they are the givers of life. We took up the responsibility to see that their health and hygiene are well taken care of. In the initial lockdown days we began the daily supply (grocery kits) drive in which in our own small way we tried to reach out to about 750+ families providing each family with a stock of groceries sufficing an entire month.Following which we started our ‘Sanitary Napkin’ drive and for the past 4 months we have made a sincere effort and provided sanitary napkins to little above 2000+ women each month in 13 slums around Yari Road, Versova, Mumbai. These women do not even have excess to basic hygienic Sanitary pads. They use alternates like cloth/rag and are facing challenges in managing their periods in a healthier manner due to which they have to suffer physical (infection) and mental (low self-esteem) health.
We would like to move a step forward in our ‘sanitary napkin’ drive by not just by providing all the women out there (slum areas near yari road, versova) with the napkins but also enlightening them about the importance and the affordability factor of it.
30 rupees is not a big amount for them it's just we need to get them aware about the use of sanitary napkins so they get used to this and include this in their routine.
