    Hemanth Raju T S

    from Hyderabad, Telangana

Finally, Hemanth was getting used to the feeling of being healthy enough to go to school and play with his friends. For a year now, he hadn’t heard about the deadly disease. Cancer and chemotherapy were a thing of the past for Swami and Padma and their son. But, never in their wildest dreams had they imagined that Hemanth would be suffering from a severe pain since the last one month. The pain in his shoulders surfaced out of nowhere. Now, the only way for this unbearable pain to go away is through surgery.

Hemanth complains of severe body ache that makes even sitting up painful for him

Hemanth has been braving cancer since he was 5 years old. Now he is 16-year-old and is a brave survivor of the disease. However, in a sad turn of the fate, Hemanth is now suffering from a condition because of which his bone tissues in the shoulders are getting destroyed due to lack of blood supply. The doctors have suggested that Hemanth needs immediate surgery. It would involve surgical drilling into the area of dead bone near the joint. This shall reduce the pressure, allow for increased blood flow, and slow the bone destruction.

“Appa, if I have fought back cancer, I am sure I will fight back this pain also”

Despite the intermittent episodes of him getting battling cancer, Hemanth has always been an active teenager who loved going to school. A friendly and happy-go-lucky boy, he enjoyed playing with his friends.

“Every evening his friends come to pay him a visit these days. They assure him that they won’t let him lag behind in his assignments. In spite of his pain, Hemanth is very hopeful that he will get well soon. He keeps telling me that if he can fight cancer, he will fight this back as well,” - Swami, father.
