    This fundraiser will benefit

    Zeba Begum

    from Hyderabad, Telangana

Zeba is a sweet 16-year-old who loves studying and going to school. She is so regular to school that sometimes her friends make fun of her. But Zeba hasn't gone to school in the past 10 days, in fact, Zeba hasn't left the hospital. She doesn't even look like the Zeba her friends know.

This 16-year-old is suffering from lupus for the last 2 years. Her immune system is attacking the healthy cells and tissues in her body. Now her condition is so dangerous that her vital organs are shutting down. She needs treatment immediately or she could die.

Her feet, face and stomach swelled up - she's twice her size now

Zeba has been under treatment for the past 2 years. She led a life of restrictions unlike others her age. But the last 10 days, have been horrifying for her and her family.

“She couldn’t pass urine and her stomach had swollen up. Her hands and legs were swollen up too and she was in immense pain. The local doctors told us that they can’t do anything to save her. We wasted no time to bring her to Hyderabad,” - Shareef, father.

It was here that they got to know that her infection is spreading all over her body. Her kidneys are shutting down. She was put on dialysis, immediately.

There are rashes all over her body, she is burning with fever

It’s been 10 days that she has been in the hospital and she is getting critical with every passing day. There are blisters on her entire body - she is in so much pain. Sometimes her breathing becomes laboured - other times, she is just restless, wanting to go home.

“No parent should have to see their child in such a state. It’s plain torture. And imagine, I am only looking at her, my Zeba is feeling all that pain,” - Sabiha Begum, mother.

Zeba needs to stay in the hospital for longer but will I be able to afford that?

Shareef works at a meat shop in a small village in Telangana - he makes a mere Rs 500. It is impossible for Shareef to continue his daughter’s treatment without any help.

“My friends have helped me as much as they could. I have even taken loans on high interest. That’s how I have paid about 16 lakhs till now. But it’s still not enough - we need 4 lakhs more. You’re my only hope,” - Shareef.

Zeba needs urgent treatment. Her parents are struggling to save her, you can be their ray of hope
