Manju always tried to be the best mother she could be for her two beautiful young daughters. Manju's husband, Kailash, was rarely ever home because he was an Indo-Tibetan Border Police jawan. In his absence, she had to be twice as strong, raising their children on her own. But her strength was put to the most extreme test when her younger daughter, little Disha, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia a little over three years ago, at the tender age of 7.

Manju did not stay scared for long.

"I researched treatment options, I researched doctors. I found out that the closest and best place to give Disha a fighting chance at life was in Delhi. So I brought her here as quickly as I could . Ever since, I've been bringing Disha to Delhi every few weeks for her sessions, she was getting better,"- Manju, wiping tears

 

But Disha’s cancer has relapsed, only five days after the official end of the treatment plan she was on.

"I don't understand what happened! It was supposed to be over! I was supposed to be able to take my child home once and for all!  My husband calls whenever he can to ask about how the treatment is going, how Disha is. It was one of the best feelings in the world to be able to say 'Our daughter is going to make it. She's beating cancer.' But now I can't even say that,"- Manju, crying.

The only way to save Disha's life now is for her to get a bone marrow transplant, an extremely expensive procedure. To afford Disha's treatment, Manju and Kailash had pushed as far as they could. They sold everything they could sell, they borrowed as much as they could from friends and family. They have nothing left to give now.

"I'm so tired. I just want to go home, I want to go back to school. For the past few months mom has been telling me I'd get to leave and everything would be fine, but now everyone is saying I'm still sick. Why is this happening to me?" - Disha, when asked how she feels
