    Animal Lives Are Important

    from Bangalore, Karnataka

Dear Friends,
Too many animals are hungry and suffering not because there is dearth of food but due to dearth of love and care in human hearts. The greatest of sufferings dogs endure on a daily basis is indeed one of the core issues ALAI rescues are addressing on a daily basis.

We are ALAI (Trust Reg No: MLS-4-00075-2017-18), Animal Lives Are Important, a dog rescue & Rehabilitation Centre in Bangalore. We rescue sick and injured street dogs, provide them medical treatment in our shelter & release them back from where they were originally picked up from. Few dogs however, due to the severe nature of injury/ailment, could not be released back and hence have become a permanent member of our shelter to the tune of 85+ dogs.

The journey started 2 years ago when we started attending to injured dogs; carry them to Govt. Veterinary Hospital by hiring an Auto on the spot. (We had no shelter, no rescue van, but only the support of few enthusiastic local volunteers who shared our passion for helping animals in distress) As we reached out to more and more dogs, our volunteer community grew – and over-time we bought a dedicated rescue van, started a small shelter.
Today we run 2 ambulances and a full time shelter with 2 drivers, 7 care takers and 2 visiting doctors and we house 110 dogs at any given point of time.

Our shelter & day-to-day rescue operations are funded by a countable group of volunteers cum donors who have seen our work on a day to day basis; however this only helps cover part of our expenses leaving us in huge deficits every month.
Ranging from accident cases to blind, sick, old, spine injured dogs, we have helped numerous animals where we have given the necessary aid & assistance to the ailing dogs. We have had amazing recoveries in our shelter which is the greatest factor to dedicate our lives towards rescuing.

This fund request now is to meet the need of the hour to help us build a permanent home for our ailing dogs so that they can have a better breathable space to spend their last few days under great love & amazing care ,meanwhile addressing the core issue to create more space for ongoing and future rescues.

For this construction, the overall expenditure we incur as of now is close to 10lakhs Construction work has already begun, and we are now in dire need of funds to finish the work (while still keep the primary shelter & rescue-work operational). Please help us.

NOTE: Income tax laws necessitate that a welfare organization completes 3 full years of operation, before tax-benefit status could be obtained (For us this date would be in 2022). This means that you cannot claim tax benefit for the donation you make to us now. We would appreciate if you could donate to us regardless keeping in mind our cause and the need of the hour for the animals in distress.
I think it’s time we Humans as a race and a species stand up to the occasion and do our bit to help the suffering animals. The most beautiful moments in life are moments when you are expressing your joy, not when you are seeking it. The Joy we experience in helping animals-in-need is one of the greatest factors that keep us going.
