Maa Tarini, founded in Orissa in 2004, has emerged as a credible micro-finance institution that empowers rural women with access to better housing, health, sanitation, enterprise, and social justice. It is registered as the ‘Maa Tarini Mahila Savings Credit and House Building Primary Co-Operative Ltd.’ under the Self Help Cooperative Act 2001. Maa Tarini provides loans specifically for home repairs, agriculture improvement, vegetable cultivation, and enterprise creation. They also provide legal aid, and support in marketing and resource utilization. Milaap is partnering with Maa Tarini to provide sanitation loans, providing rural women affordable access to basic sanitation facilties.
