After An Urgent Liver Transplant, Young Mother Of Two Struggles To Survive Post-op Complications

Venkateshwar is a daily wage laborer who shuttles between Hyderabad and Jeelugumilli in an effort to be there for his wife and children. His wife, Sarada, was completely bedridden as a result of liver cirrhosis in a Hyderabad hospital. His children, aged 6 and 7, are in the village, waiting for their mother to come home. She had less than 2 days on the clock when the Internet helped fund a liver transplant. Although it saved her life, Sarada is fighting post-op complications.

'I knew it was not just jaundice, but I did not get help in time.'

A strong doting mother, Sarada, would start her mornings by prepping breakfast for their children and dressing them for school. About 8 months ago, she started feeling fatigued unable to wake up. When treatment from a doctor in Jeelugumilli, Andhra Pradesh failed to help Sarada, Venkateshwar took her to Hyderabad where she was diagnosed with cirrhosis.

“Her condition makes her stomach swell. They remove at least 5 liters of fluid every time this happens. She is unable to eat because of the pain. All she cares about is staying alive for us. She is afraid to close her eyes, worried that she won’t be able to wake up. I wish we could have known earlier.”

'We never needed money before, and now, we need it only to save her'

The family has all the love one can hope for in the world. They never needed money. Venkateshwar was content with Rs. 200/day he made working on a farm. He sends the children to a government school and lives day-to-day. With the transplant costing Rs. 25 lakhs, he was desperate for help.

“I wish I was more ambitious and had a job that pays me more. She spent her whole life being a good daughter, wife and mother. We cannot bear to lose someone who has been so selfless. It is my turn to be there for her. Thankfully, with Milaap I was able to do the transplant. Now again, we are in that place, seeking more help.”

'Sarada is still fighting to survive and you can help me save her'

In 8 months, whatever Venkateshwar managed to earn, he paid towards medical expenses. In debt already, he is worried he cannot repay the loans. At first, he believed there was time to get government help.

“The money raised so far went towards the transplant expenses. We never expected these complications. She has to be in the hospital for a few more days. I don't know how else I can save her.” - Venkateshwar

You can be Venkateshwar's miracle

Venkateshwar is the donor. It means he cannot go to work even after the transplant. They are already living on borrowed money. All this pain over the past months, will be for nothing if he cannot save Sarada.

"25 lakhs in 2 days. You were a miracle who helped us. I'll be forever grateful for any contribution you can make to save my wife again." - Venkateshwar

Your contribution can help this mother go back to her children
