2-Month-Old Baby Who Suffered Deadly Cardiac Arrest Has Two Days Left To Get Life-Saving Surgery

Just two months ago, Pradeep and Kiran celebrated the birth of their first child. It was the happiest they had ever felt, and as they carried their bundle of joy home, they couldn’t help but dream of a healthy and joyous future for their baby boy. Once they were home, relatives started trickling in to see their newborn, and because of the joy he brought with him, Pradeep and Kiran named him ‘Moksh’. After years of yearning for a child, this was their moment of ‘eternal bliss’. However, their happiness was tragically short-lived. When he was just 20-days-old, baby Moksh developed severe pneumonia and struggled to breathe. Just as his worried parents admitted him to the hospital, their little one suffered a cardiac arrest.

I remember carrying him into the emergency section, and within minutes, our crying baby was still. I didn’t know what was happening to him or why his little fingers suddenly went cold. Our baby’s heart had stopped working, and I all I could do was stand by helpless. It’s been one month since that day, and my son is still on ventilator support. Now, I have just two days to save him.” – Pradeep, father.

Their baby has been on ventilator support for one month, only a surgery can relieve him of this pain

Baby Moksh was diagnosed with tricuspid atresia, a heart disease in which a heart valve is missing or is abnormally developed. The defect blocks blood flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle due to which the body doesn't get enough oxygen. Moksh can’t eat or breathe on his own, and after spending everything they have, all Pradeep and Kiran can now do is nervously keep checking the clock in the waiting room of the hospital. They have less than two days to save him and every minute counts.

With just two days left for his surgery, Pradeep is empty handed

For one month now, Pradeep and Kiran have been sleeping on the cold floor of the waiting room outside the ICU. For them, nothing is greater than saving their son, and are willing to do anything to save him. But they have no one to turn to now. Pradeep has always lived a simple life, and with his minimal daily income of Rs. 200 per day as a construction worker, Kiran and he managed to get by. They had never imagined that life would bring them to a point where they would risk losing their child because of their poverty.

“We’ve sold my wife’s jewellery from our wedding, it was the only piece of jewellery she owned. We’ve borrowed from all relatives. In one month, we’ve spent more than 3 lakhs. Now he can’t go on any longer without a surgery, but we’ve run out of money to save him.”
