Abandoned By Parents, This 9-Year-Old Girl Fighting Cancer Needs Your Help Urgently

Life has not been fair to 9-year-old Krishna since she was born. Her parents had abandoned her when she was only 6 months old and since then she has been brought up by this generous couple - Aparna and Chittaranjan. They couldn’t bear to see the suffering of a little child and decided to bring Krishna up as one of their own.

“We never had a lot of money but that didn’t stop us from giving Krishna the best of what we had. I promised to protect her from all dangers but now she has been diagnosed with deadly cancer. She needs urgent treatment to get well but there is no way that we can arrange for that,” - Aparna.

Krishna has been battling cancer for a long time now

Aparna still remembers the night in 2016 when Krishna was tossing and turning in the bed due to severe pain in her legs. She had been running a temperature for the last few days and medicines gave her no respite.

“As time passed, Krishna’s pain became worse and she was crying out, asking me to help her. At around 1:30 am in the night, we decided to take her to a local doctor who gave us some medicines. But her pain didn’t subside - so the next morning, we did a blood test as was advised by the doctor. When the results came out, we were shocked to know that she has cancer. I wondered if it was the same God whom we prayed to - how could He be so unfair to a little child?”

“People asked me to give her away because of the high costs of treatment. But I knew in my heart that I would never do that”

Little Krishna had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2016. It is a type of blood cancer that affects the bone marrow and the white blood cells. Krishna underwent chemotherapy for a year and was recovering slowly from the disease. She was all ready to go back to school when the deadly disease relapsed. In the month of November 2018, Krishna complained of body pain and weakness. Aparna immediately took her to the hospital where tests revealed that she has had a relapse.

“When people got to know that Krishna has cancer, everyone asked me to give her away to an orphanage. But my husband and I knew that we would never do that. Since 2016, we have done everything in our hands to get her treated; we will keep doing so. She is no different from my own children. I am not ready to lose her to the disease.”

A government employee with a meager income, Chittaranjan is struggling to get Krishna treated

Krishna needs urgent chemotherapy to fight back cancer once again. But Aparna and Chittaranjan are in no condition to arrange for Rs 10 lakhs. They have already sold their jewellery and broken their fixed deposit to get Krishna treated the last time. Now, without any help, they would not be able to save their daughter.

“We are all she has and I know she pins all her hopes on us. She is determined to get better, I hope I don’t fail her ever.”

How you can help
Krishna has been growing up in the care of Aparna and Chittaranjan. They love her immensely and have never let her feel the absence of her real parents. Krishna has fought cancer once before and now she needs to fight it again. But Aparna and her husband have no means to continue Krishna’s treatment. A small contribution from your side can give 9-year-old Krishna a second chance at life.
