This 29-year-old Man Brutally Assaulted By Robbers Is Now Battling Severe Head Injuries And Needs Help To Survive

“I was waiting for my husband to come home. He was late. The phone rang and in my heart, I knew something was wrong. It was his friend on the phone. I heard him say that my husband was in the hospital and I sank to the floor.”
29-year-old Renjith was on the way home from work with a friend on the night of 19th October, when they were attacked by robbers. After an unprovoked assault, these two friends ended up in the hospital. While his friend had minor injuries, Renjith suffered traumatic brain injuries that necessitated an emergency surgery. He is still in the ICU struggling to survive.

She thought he was late, but he was actually fighting for his life

It was like any other night. Renjith called his wife before he left office. He was going to drop a colleague at home on the way. When they were riding the bike, robbers jumped them causing an accident. As if this was not enough, Renjith and his friend were beaten up, and their belongings were robbed.

“Nobody knows what really happened. I know what everyone seems to be talking about. Even his friend who just got discharged cannot remember much about the scene. The police tell me that they will find out more. All I know is that I came here to the hospital and found him lying in the ICU after a surgery with tubes and wires all over him. I felt like my husband was gone. Was all this just for his gold chain and money?

He saved lives, now she is not able to save his

Renjith works as a staff at a hospital. While he has helped save lives over the years, his wife and parents are struggling to save his. He used to earn Rs. 18,000/month to support Anurani (wife), his parents and grandmother. They were comfortable and happy. Now, this house has lost all its joy.

“We were planning to have a baby this year. All I want now is my husband to open his eyes and talk to me. I keep looking at him all the time, willing him to move a finger or a toe. When it happens, it is as if God is giving me a sign, that eventually everything will be ok. My worry is about having enough to get him through this phase.”

How can you help?

Renjith has had two craniotomies to treat his injuries. However, with the trauma he has suffered, he needs to be in the ICU for a few weeks. The family cannot afford this treatment especially since he was the sole-breadwinner and managed all the finances. Anurani does not know where to begin on this journey to save her husband.

Your support can help this man recover from a trauma that nearly stole him from his family.
