Four-year-old Ananya Gupta has the rare blood disease Congenital Dyserythropoietic Anaemia (CDA). Because of this, her body does not make enough blood and she needs a blood transfusion every 20 days.
Diagnosed when Ananya was just one year
Ananya was diagnosed three years back and ever since has undergone painful transfusion every month. So far, she has undergone nearly 70 transfusions.
"I don't like going to the hospital, but sometimes I have to go everyday. I want to play with my friends," says Ananya who often needs bedrest to recover from weakness. As she is growing, the frequency of transfusions is increasing and her condition is getting worse. She is being treated at B.A.L hospital, Delhi under the care of Dr. Gaurav Kharya who believes that that the only way to make her better is a bone marrow transplant. The estimate of the cost of treatment is about 35 lakhs.
