Sofiya will be 3 years old soon. Before that, she needs a heart surgery. This would be her second major surgery in less than 3 years. She was born with holes in her heart. Her doctor has fought hard to keep her alive and kicking. This time, her family needs your help to save her life.

Amar and Siya rushed their infant to the hospital when she was just 2 weeks old because she had caught pneumonia. Their doctor suspected that the baby girl might have a cardiac issue and wrote up an Echo after which he referred them to a cardiac surgeon. Sofiya was diagnosed with a hole in her heart. She needed an emergency surgery to repair the defect.“We went to AIMS but nobody even touched our file there. We kept waiting for them to call us, and then realized what had happened. Since there was no other option, we went back to the same cardiac surgeon, liquidated every rupee we had in savings, and went with the surgery.”
She has a second hole, and it needs to be fixed immediately
Back then, Sofiya had a VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect). She also has an ASD (Atrial Septal Defect), which is a hole between the two auricles of her heart. This hole needs to be closed now. If she does not have the surgery, she will have problems with breathing and growth.“Sofiya has grown into a lovely child. She has a normal childhood. She plays and does everything like any other healthy child, but we watch her carefully as she has already had a surgery, and has another defect. She gets breathless quickly. She also gets tired from time to time. We just want to give her a chance to live life healthy.”

Amar works in housekeeping at Select Citywalk, Delhi, for Rs. 9000. Siya takes care of Sofiya. The couple decided that their daughter needs someone to watch her at all times. Now, they are out of avenues to fund this second surgery which is estimated to cost Rs. 2.75 Lakhs. Sofiya is a beautiful child, full of dreams.
