Settled in Shimoga, the couple had just about started their life together, and were planning to have a child. An ultrasound revealed a lump near her stomach in 2014. Although this was diagnosed as a benign form of cancer, they thought surgically removing it would be enough. However, it came back very soon, as Breast Cancer, and this time as a major threat to Subarna’s life. Subarna had to undergo 16 cycles of Chemo, 17 cycles of Herceptin and 21 Cycles of Radiation. Recently, Subarna found another lump in her breast. This time, they got it surgically removed immediately. However, her’s being a unique case, the doctors have strongly recommended a Radiation therapy. Unfortunately, Shyju is left with no money to continue her treatment. They have exhausted their insurance cover, help from Subarna’s workplace, and support from family and friends.
