Our Son Died Before We Could Get Him Treated, We Will Lose Our Daughter Too Without Help

“We were too late to save our son. He was so young when he died, all because we couldn’t arrange the money for his transplant. Watching your child suffer through a deadly disease is terrifying, but imagine watching them die…there are no words to describe the pain. Our daughter Rashmika is now 1, and she has the same disease that killed our son. We can’t waste any time now.” – Vijaylaxmi, mother

Vijaylaxmi and Suresh still remember their last day with their son, Naveen. Now every day feels like it might be their last with Rashmika. They will relive the most traumatic loss of their lives if they can’t afford to save their baby in time – she needs a bone marrow transplant.

What would you do if your child has only a few days to live?

What would you do if you were told your child has a few days, at the most, weeks to live? Vijaylaxmi and Suresh too did every single thing they could think of. But nothing is enough. Rashmika has a disease that is killing her immune system. She is always sick – even a small change in the weather, a short trip to the hospital or a window opened for a second longer can make her terribly ill.

“She cries a lot, she doesn’t like the medicines she has to take. But it’s the only thing getting her through the day without the transplant. Two months ago she wasn’t scared of the hospital, but now she knows that it means pain.” – Vijaylaxmi

Baby Rashmika needs the bone marrow transplant in July. That’s just 3 weeks for her parents to arrange for 20 lakhs – an amount too big for anyone, let alone a family from a humble background.

They have spent everything on their first child’s treatment, they are still in debt

Suresh works as a lab assistant in a private college in Bellary district. He has already spent lakhs on his first child’s treatment a few years ago. In March when Rashmika was diagnosed with leukocyte adhesion deficiency, Suresh knew he couldn’t afford the treatment. Even then, he didn’t give up.

“I borrowed from people I knew… I managed to get 1 lakh till now, but that has gone in her medicines and check-ups. We have nothing left now. I still haven't paid back what I owe to so many people. July will be here before we know it, I hope this time we are not too late.” – Suresh, father

What your support will do for this family

Rashmika can grow up, have a healthy life with your help. Her parents who have still not overcome the loss of their first child can stop living in fear. Your support will give this family hope and happiness again after their terrible loss. Above all, you will save this 1-year-old’s life.
