“She’s unconscious now. But the last time she woke up she just… cried. She told me about how much it hurts all over her body, and that her stomach felt like it was on fire inside. I can’t bear to see her like this. I pray to god that I can take away some of her pain, that I suffer instead of her. Until two months ago she was just a beautiful and friendly 17-year-old girl who was excited about starting her B.Pharm course this year. There was so much she wanted to do. But now... it feels like she’s on her deathbed…” – Ramlath, mother, breaking down

It was in the middle of May, just a few weeks after Ramseena got her 12th standard results, when the symptoms first started appearing. She had been helping her family in the kitchen when she noticed a few blisters on her feet. She ignored them at first, but within a few weeks, her feet were covered by blisters and wounds. Her worried family took her to a local hospital where, after a few medical tests, the doctors were able to figure out that there was something wrong with Ramseena’s blood.

“When they told me that they couldn’t treat her there and that we needed to go to a bigger hospital, I got so scared. I didn’t understand much, but it definitely meant that the problem was so much worse than we had imagined. It was at this point… that I started truly fearing for my daughter’s life.” – Ramlath, mother

By the time the distraught family was able to move young Ramseena to a better-equipped hospital in late June, her condition was critical. She was immediately admitted to the ICU, where she remains to this day. Over the past month and a half, the doctors have discovered that Ramseena is suffering from at least six life-threatening medical conditions simultaneously, a very rare occurrence in medical science. While the combination of these conditions cause multiple symptoms like fatigue and bruising all over her skin, the worst of them is that poor Ramseena's vital organs are shutting down.

Young Ramseena’s conditions, though so severe, are treatable. She just needs to stay in the ICU and get extensive medical care for at least a few more weeks.
But her family has run out of money.

“I had to quit my job because my company wouldn’t give me enough time off to be with my daughter, so right now I have no source of income. Whatever savings I had I’ve already spent, and I’ve been borrowing money from my friends, family, and even strangers, but it’s not enough. I don’t have any money at all left now. We are all so scared, trying to figure out how to save my daughter. I can't believe so much has changed in just 2 months.” – Ubaid, father
In these dark times, you can be this family’s ray of hope. They have nowhere left to turn. Each day that goes by where young Ramseena doesn't get adequate medical care, her situation will get worse and worse. Donate now, however much you can, and give this 17-year-old girl a second chance at life.
