80% Of Her Skin Has Peeled Off, She Feels Like Her Whole Body Is On Fire Due To A Rare Disease

Imagine you wake up one day to find that you have got blisters on your hands, you try to touch it but your skin just peels off from your body. You feel like you are dying, your face is burning and you run for a glass of water but you cannot even have a sip of it. Does it sound like the worst nightmare one can ever have? This is the bitter reality for 22-year-old Pavithra.

“We never imagined that a fever and a few small blisters could turn into something that can kill my daughter. Her face and body look burnt but it is a skin disease that is doing this to her. It spread across her entire body overnight. Now she does not sleep a wink because she feels her body is on fire." -  Saroja, Mother.

They couldn't diagnosis her disease for weeks

In the past 6 months, when the blisters slowly started appearing on her face, chest, back and her mouth, she was taken to different hospitals and she was misdiagnosed many times. Her condition began to decline severely and it was only a few days back that she was diagnosed with Pemphigus  Vulgaris, a serious autoimmune blistering disorder, it occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks proteins in the upper layers of the skin.

This rare disease has destroyed her skin and dreams

Pavithra has completed her B.tech. She wished to continue her studies. Owing to her family's financial condition, she applied for jobs and decided to do M.tech through correspondence. She was vibrant and ambitious and was determined to support her family. She got a job in a private company, unfortunately, in a month's time, her life changed.

"We felt so proud when she got her first month's salary. She said she'll take care of her brother's education. She had so many dreams but now she is shattered completely. She is in unbearable pain and she cries all the time. We do not know how to comfort her," - Saroja.

"If not for her friends, we wouldn't have come this far"

Pavithra's father Madhavan works as a security guard and earns Rs 12,000 per month. When Pavithra's condition became severe, it was her friends who took her to many hospitals and helped. Together, they collected 3 lakhs and her family spent 2 lakhs by borrowing from their relatives. They need 8 lakhs more to continue the treatment.

"Doctors said she needs 2 more months of stay and she can definitely recover. We cannot bear to see her in this condition. We are thankful to all her friends, but we still need help to save her," - Madahvan.

Your generous contribution can help Pavithra get a new lease of life
