Mahadev was a happy child going to the Anganwadi. His father is a poor coolie who cannot afford a private school education. None of this ever bothered him. However, from the last few weeks, he has been very unhappy with his parents because they don’t seem to care that he hates the hospital. They are not ready to take him home.
“I don’t like it here; it smells of medicine all the time. My stomach has become so big...I think it will burst soon. My throat is also hurting and I fell like vomiting. I don’t want to be here. Please tell my father to take me home” requests Mahadev in a feeble voice.
“My son is upset and irritated with all the medicines and pain. How can I tell him that it’s for his sake that we are here? How can I tell him that we if we don’t get his treatment done, he might die? He is just 5 years and craves to play and be at home. I’m not able to arrange his treatment cost. How will I save him now?” - Mallappa, Father.Mahadev was admitted to the hospital in Gulbarga, Karnataka two weeks ago due to high fever and a bloated belly. On diagnosis, the parents were informed that he has cancer, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was brought to Bangalore for further treatment. Mahadev has been losing weight and his appetite at a rapid rate. He has gone extremely weak and feels tired all the time.
“My two sons are my only happiness. I do not mind being poor or being without a proper house or anything else. I just need my son to be healthy and alive. We need a lot of money to save him. I don’t even know exactly how much. I just know that I can never even dream of seeing so much money in my entire lifetime," - Uma, motherMallapa has been contacting everyone he knows but his social circle consists of people who like him earn a daily wage of Rs 200-300. How can they help him? His son Mahadev needs to undergo chemotherapy for another 6 months. Mallapa is clueless as to how he can raise 12 lakhs...
“I got to know about this crowdfunding through a distant relative. I’m not educated enough to understand how this works. He is helping me with the procedures. I beg everybody to please help me save my son. God will surely bless you all.” – Mallapa, father
