They found out he has a heart disease before he was born
Vidhya and Kannuyappan were excited when she got pregnant for the first time. They spent all their time in planning the baby's future. Vidhya never missed her regular checkup with the doctor and followed all the instructions religiously. It was during the last month's scan, they got the most frightening news - their baby has a heart problem.
The mother doesn't know how critical her baby is
Vidhya's baby began to struggle within a few minutes of his birth. He was rushed to the ICU soon and was placed on oxygen support. After 2 days, a life-saving procedure was done to help the baby get oxygen-rich blood. Baby's aorta is connected to the right ventricle, and the pulmonary artery is connected to the left ventricle — the opposite of a normal heart's anatomy. Only an open heart surgery can cure this and help him live a normal life.
"My wife is in another hospital. She still doesn't know how critical he is. I have told her that he needs oxygen support for some days and we can take him home after that. How can she be at peace if I tell her that our baby is fighting for his life?" -Kannuyappan
"I spend the day in the hospital and the night driving my auto"
Kannuyappan is an auto driver and he earns around Rs 500-700 per day. His income was enough only for his basic needs. When Vidya became pregnant, he worked even at night and saved money for his baby, but now he has exhausted all the money that he had saved for the treatment. He needs 6 lakh for the surgery which is beyond his means. He needs your help to save his baby.
