“My baby girl is too weak to even get up from bed now. When she does, it is to complain about the pain in her chest. She even tries to close her nose and stop breathing for a few seconds, just to let the pain go away for some time. But it doesn’t. It is only getting worse. I cannot watch her suffer like this,”- Vipin, father.
3-year-old Aaradhana is suffering from a severe heart disease called Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) where there is a hole in the wall that separates the two upper chambers of the heart. Due to this, oxygen-rich blood leaks into the oxygen-poor chambers in the heart, causing breathlessness and chest infections. This little girl needs an urgent surgery in 24 hours or she will not survive. But her poor parents cannot afford the expensive procedure and are asking for your help.
‘She had barely gone to the playschool for 10 days before she got so sick’Aaradhana is the only child of Vipin and Deepika. She had been a seemingly healthy child all her life – not even suffering from cold in Delhi’s worst winters. This is why her parents were so shocked to learn that she had a heart defect; she never even showed any signs of it all this while. She played, talked and was extremely active like any other toddler her age. However, two weeks back, she got a fever that was accompanied by cold and cough, and further tests led to her diagnosis.
“We had enrolled her in a playschool near our home– there was nothing that she loved more than meeting and playing with other kids her age. But she hadn’t even gone there for 10 days before this happened to her. Now she is just lying there on the hospital bed, saying nothing at all. She is in a lot of pain,”-Deepika, mother.
This poor father’s salary is not even one tenth of the amount required for the surgeryVipin works as a helper in a printing press in Narela, Delhi. If he works overtime (more than 12 hours a day), he is able to earn Rs 9,000 a month. The money he earns is hardly enough to meet the household expenses and to feed and clothe his wife and kid. But he was managing it somehow until his daughter got so sick. Ever since then, he has been running from pillar to post, trying to arrange enough money for her surgery. He also had to take many leaves on loss of pay, but nothing has been arranged so far.
“I need over 8 lakhs for her surgery. I don’t even earn one-tenth of it. I don’t have friends or relatives who are considerably well off and can help me. Please support us in this difficult time,”- Vipin.
With your kind help, this father can save his daughter before it is too late and her heart fails
