‘My Children Cannot Go To School And My Family Is Struggling As My Liver Is Failing. Help Me Get An Urgent Transplant‘

“All I ever wanted was to be a good husband and a good father. I used to dream of giving my daughters the life they deserve. Now I can't even sit up without help. My stomach feels like it’s tearing apart, but the pain of seeing their future slip away hurts even more. I look at them and I wonder — did I fail them?” — Amit Singh

Amit Singh, 34, a lab technician from Prayagraj, had always been the quiet strength of his family. Two and a half years ago, he barely escaped death in a road accident — his leg was badly injured, the car wrecked — but he fought back with determination. This time, though, the fight is even harder. In August 2024, after months of weakness, yellowing eyes, constant exhaustion, and ignored warnings, Amit’s body gave up. His stomach swelled with fluid. Tests revealed the worst: liver cirrhosis. The organ was failing. Home remedies and prayers couldn't save him. Now, his only chance is a liver transplant — and time is running out.

He is bedridden, cannot eat or walk properly due to swelling all over body

Today, Amit lies in a hospital bed in Delhi, trapped inside his own body. His legs are swollen like logs, his stomach tight with painful fluid. Eating even a few bites leaves him gasping. Moving is nearly impossible as he cannot sit without someone lifting him. The infections won’t stop — his kidneys and damaged liver are constantly under attack. Earlier this year, a septic shock almost took his life. Now he stays awake, conscious of every sharp pain, every struggle to breathe — but helpless to fight it off on his own.

Beside him, his two little daughters sit quietly, holding his swollen hand, whispering small prayers they don’t even fully understand.

“He was the man who made sure every wish of our daughters came true — a new doll, a bedtime story, carrying them on his shoulders after a long day at work. Now they sit next to him, wiping his forehead, begging him to open his eyes wider, to talk more. They are too small to understand what is happening, but they know they might lose him. And we... we are just breaking apart watching this.” — Divya Singh, Amit’s wife

‘My family cannot bear the crushing burden of medical expenses…help me’

The family has already spent close to ₹18 lakhs — everything they had saved over the years, and all they could borrow from relatives and friends. Amit’s father, a retired irrigation department worker, has a small pension that barely covers daily needs. With Amit unable to work and no salary coming in, the medical bills have become a mountain they cannot climb. The family hasn’t been able to return home for two months, living in Delhi hospitals and cheap rented rooms. Their daughters' schooling has suffered too — they haven’t been able to attend regularly, with no money left for fees. Every day feels like they are sinking deeper, struggling to keep hope alive.

“I don't want my daughters to grow up with memories of hospital beds and tears. I want them to remember a father who stood strong for them, who cheered the loudest at their school events. I still dream of seeing them smile freely again. Please help me fight for them. Please help me be their father again.” — Amit Singh
