After A Year Of Suffering, Only An Urgent Transplant Can Save This Boy

“3 days! We just kept waiting outside the ICU, we didn’t go home or sleep much. It was so hard to even swallow a single bite of food, we constantly worried about our son who was battling for his life. Although he escaped then, he is fighting for survival again now. This time nothing can save him but a transplant, this horrible disease is here to take him away from us.”

 - Ramaiah, father

His bone marrow has completely failed

Ajay was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia, a condition in which the body stops producing enough new blood cells leading to dangerously low blood levels that can aggressively kill a person. In Ajay’s case, his bone marrow has completely failed and only a transplant can save his life.

“He wasn’t like this before. He used to be such an active child, full of life. But this disease has completely changed my son. He feels tired easily and there are days when he can’t even get up from the bed to go to the washroom. Since the last few weeks, he is suffering from red rashes and bumps on his entire body. His disease is slowly killing him!” - Tulsi, mother

He suffered from the underlying disease for almost a year

3 years back Ajay had to undergo a surgery to treat appendicitis, but soon after that he started suffering from recurrent diarrhea. It went on for more than a year and no matter how many medicines he took, it just kept getting worse.

“...and then in December last year, it became 4-5 times in a day, each day! His body just couldn’t take it anymore and we took him to a bigger hospital. It was then that his actual disease came to light, and all this while my child just kept suffering like that. Now, his disease is at a stage so severe that medicines can’t cure him anymore.” - Tulsi

We sold every last bit of valuable thing we had to survive

Ramaiah is a handloom worker, he usually manages to earn some 16,000 rupees in a month. But ever since Ajay’s condition got serious in December last year, he hardly went to work.

“2-3 thousand, that’s all I have been earning for the last few months and I can’t tell you how hard it has been for us. We sold every last bit of valuable thing we had to survive, we took loans too but this transplant...no matter how hard we try we will never be able to afford so much money. I don’t know what to do or where to go now. You are our only hope. Please save my child.” - Ramaiah
