Education loan helped Mamata to pay for her daughter's engineering program fee

I went to meet Mamata on 16th of October, 2014. She is the mother of Lopamudra Nayak. She had taken a loan of Rs 20,000 almost six months back from Milaap for funding the education of her daughter, who is pursuing a Bachelors course in Architecture at CET, Bhubaneswar. She is a confident woman and believes in the abilities of her daughter to achieve greater heights. The woman sitting in the middle with her hand raised in the picture is Mamata. She also has a son who is pursuing M.Tech from IIIT Bhuvaneshwar. Mamata lives in Jagannath Vihar area of Baramunda, Bhubhaneshwar. It was a delightful meeting with her and her self-help group members which she has named Forward JLG (Joint Liability Group). There are 6 members in her group and 5 were present during the meeting. Mamata is a housewife and does tailoring work to extend a helping hand to her husband in sustaining the family. Her husband works in forest department in remote areas of Orissa. She also run a NGO herself in one of the rural district of Orissa and employs 3 people. With the help of Milaap field partner she has managed to distribute solar lanterns to the needy people in that area. While she needed loan to the tune of Rs 50,000, she could be only granted a loan of Rs 20,000 which is based on the assessment done by the Milaap field partner. She had a very good experience with Milaap and its field partner and is quite happy with the loan. She expects that in future based on her timely repayment record she would be able to avail loans of larger amount towards expanding her tailoring business and for educating her daughter.xfvgdfjh
