The W.I.P alt.FEST is an international alt - arts festival  happening this December, dedicated to showcasing cutting edge works across diverse disciplines. Attendees can enjoy film screenings, performances, exhibitions, workshops, and panel discussions spread across 15 spaces in Delhi. The festival features artists from India and around the globe, making it a truly global celebration of alternative arts!


Our Journey So Far: 

Without any external funding or support, we have curated and produced over 200 shows in the space of cross-cultural, cross-disciplinary arts. We created the world’s first live chess and avant-garde music duo En Passant and established India’s first act of its kind, the Dilli Improvisers Orchestra, under the mentorship of the founder and conductor of the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, Raymond MacDonald. We brought the worlds of Dastaangoi and Modular Synth together in Khutoot-e-Niswan, produced Algorave in Delhi, conceptualized and produced a Live Scoring Ensemble, In the Moment 7.0, brought 16mm film practitioners Richard and Dianna to Delhi from Australia for a showcase and workshop, and created code-based dance and node-based poetry shows, among other transformative programmes.

We are now planning a massive alternative arts festival this December in Delhi, which will span over 15 venues and feature more than 150 programmes. The W.I.P alt.FEST aims to foster cultural exchange, artistic collaboration, and dialogue between local and international artists, providing audiences with engaging artistic experiences. We aim for the W.I.P alt.FEST to be an annual highlight on Delhi’s cultural calendar!

With the W.I.P alt.FEST, we strive to bring communities together, celebrating artists and audiences from every corner of India; and because innovative alt-arts can and should be accessible to all. The W.I.P alt.FEST, ultimately, is an artistic movement that is made for and by the communities of this city.

We envision a space where creativity flourishes unburdened by constraints, where artists can explore the fringes of their imagination – not just a festival, but a catalyst for dialogue, a platform for unheard voices, and a celebration of artistic expression that ignites new possibilities.

As has been the ritual at W.I.P Labs, even for this festival, 70% of the ticket sales will go directly to the artists, while 30% will go to space partners.

Work In Progress Labs (W.I.P Labs) is an artists' collective and an art platform that encourages and supports the alternative arts scene. Based in New Delhi, we are a platform run by artists, for artists. We promote, curate and produce works that challenge prevailing notions of art without compromising on criticality and aesthetics.

We’ve produced shows in more than 15 alternative arts spaces in and around Delhi, and have engaged with over 5,000 people. We’ve also successfully organized two editions of a roaming performing arts capsule – Little Stint, in collaboration with OddBird Foundation.
