Help Moti And Billo Reach VOSD

Hi,

I am Surabhi from Chandigarh. I have been taking care of two stray dogs at the taxi stand near my house from the past five years. One of the strays named Moti went missing on Diwali. I was told by the taxi drivers that he might be hiding due to the loud noises. I have been putting out posters in the area for the past six days. Yesterday when I went to search again at the taxi stand, one of the drivers sent me a video of his fellow drivers tying and beating Moti up mercilessly. He was then dislocated to a far flung area in Mullanpur. That driver told me that as soon as they got to know about this they got the dog from Mullapur yesterday at 1 pm. The video made me cry and I looked for an emergency foster for moti’s safety. When I went there to feed billo today I got to know about all this when I was surprised to see moti back. I got to know all this today when they told me the story of him coming back. He is not an aggressive dog at all, he used to guard the taxi stand day and night. Moti used to be loved by everyone and would always meet me with a wagging tail. He used to bark on people crossing in front of the taxi stand just to protect his territory. Billo, the other dog had not eaten from the past six days because of the trauma. I had to find a place for both Moti and Billo before something happened to them. I had contacted VOSD regarding the case. VOSD has happily accepted them and they will soon travel to their forever loving home in VOSD Bangalore. For this transportation and other miscellaneous costs need to be borne.

Please help me in sending these beautiful dogs to VOSD where they can live happily and peacefully for the rest of their lives.

The horrific video and the images of these beautiful babies are also attached.

I just want them to be safe and be loved all their life. God has been kind enough to show me the reality. Please help me in this endeavor to save them. Its an earnest and heartfelt plea for help.

With regards and lots of hope,
Surabhi

Dear Supporters,

The support we have received from you all have inspired us to do more and have motivated us to work much harder to reach our goal of creating the best sanctuary we can for the animals we have. We are awed by the response we have got from all of you. A big shout out and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us by donating, sharing and wishes. Here is the update on how we have utilized the funds you have trusted us with all the details.

We have almost completed our hospital's construction. We have also build a residence for the veterinary doctors who would come down to treat the animals at VOSD.

Here is a video of showing the functional hospital :

The larger and the more aggressive dogs abandoned that find home at VOSD are now getting sparkling new kennels (which are more spacious) and a pool for swimming and hydrotherapy.

The VOSD Sanctuary Hospital upgrade project is almost complete - take a look at this new place where our largest dogs that need their privacy and independence will run and play! You can also see the pool coming up for them there.

We have also got two new vehicles for transportation of the animals, a Tata Safari Storme and a Tata Winger. Here is the picture of one of them:

https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=481285462467403

This new bus has everything removed - so it's one large flat bed for the babies. It can comfortably drive 8-10 dogs. Large enough for it to be a temporary room for 3-4 dogs to stay a night in case of emergency. It's got an AC for when the bus is running and fans for the night. Cameras fitted to watch the back.

VOSD just broke ground on the capacity to increase to 1400+ dogs. With the completion of the 10,000+ sq feet Hospital and 50+ high quality kennels averaging 75-100sq feet we're moving on the VOSD Sanctuary expansion project.

Essentially 10 large enclosures with non standard sizes and roofing are being demolished. They have poor utilisation and design and availability of sunlight etc. They are making way for 30 enclosures each of 30*40 feet (that is the size of a house) for a total of 36,000 sq feet (that's the size of a small housing colony). Of this 20,000+ sq feet is land not constructed on currently.

Each of these plots in it's center will have a standard large cemented floored and roofed room with space on all 4 sides for dogs to run. Each such enclosure will house 12-15 dogs giving us a capacity of 400-450 dogs in the new section alone.

Here is the final bill with GST for the hospital construction, veterinary residence and the new additional facility :

Dear Supporters,

Thank you all for the tremendous support you have given us, your fast response helped us achieve our goal in short time span. You guys are awesome!

We are posting a quick update here since we are getting a lot of requests asking for an update. Currently, we are working on multiple construction activities in our sanctuary.

Our facility had temporary electric poles which was running through out the facility to provide lights. The wires used to be hanging freely from pole to pole. Due to the rains, the lines are falling and creating a havoc and is becoming a concern for the safety of the animals as well. We are constructing underground electric lines and creating permanent poles for the same. Here are a few photos for the same:

These were the temporary set up and below is the work undergoing for underground power lines:

We have almost finished construction work of the kennels, guest room and the hospital. The guest house is for the volunteers/veterinary doctors who is visiting and staying in the sanctuary. Here is a video showing the work ad buildings:

Here's also a quick look at the work happening at what used to be the enclosure for labs, which had 4500 sq ft was our largest. This is now being converted to a place for the most maladjustment dogs where they can roam free and with their own pool to swim in.

We will be posting a detailed update with the expenditures and other details very soon.

Thank you all once again!
