Born to Geetha Poojary and Babanna Poojary, Thanushri hails from a small village called Hengavalli in Udupi district of Karnataka. Though she was diagnosed with a problem in her blood when she was 4 months old, only when she turned 5 did the doctors diagnosed it to be First Stage of Thalassemia Major.
Coming from a humble poor background, her parents did it all, from pledging all the gold and land they had for her treatment.
When taken to Narayana Hrudalaya in Bangalore, the doctors there estimated the cost of treatment to be 20 lakhs.
Now every 20 days Thanushri must visit the hospital for her treatment.
The family is in dire need of funds and is trying their best to save their child.
