SUFI an N.G.O. established in 2013 by students of a government engineering college (I.E.T) along with National PG college Students in Lucknow. Keeping in mind the well being of under privileged children of slums, the organisation has been actively involved in various social issues ,since the very beginning, especially those related to Education and Health care.
Initially we started with 20 most motivated people like Abhishek Srivastava, Dipanshu mishra, Suyash Garg, Chandni Agarwal, Sarvesh Misra, kalyani shukla, manish thakur, Abhay choudhary and continues. As we continued our journey towards our objective we faced a lot of difficulty facing the monetary needs of organisation, which then we used to manage with our own internal collection from members.
But as we grew to more than 100 highly active members and a bulk of students from slum, we started requesting for funds from which we then used to manage all the expenses of our organisation. We set up our first slum school at Akbarnagar and then after a successful execution of our idea of opening a working slum school we the came up with our second school at Tedhi pulia in Lucknow . With in a year, we were there with two schools it was like our dream coming into reality. We first evaluated the slum for how many are attending school and those who are not.
For those who attend we conduct classes according to their syllabus with the support of our member teachers which we hired on monthly basis and those who don't attend, we conduct various events for making them aware about the importance of education and its effect in mitigating the poverty from their life. As a result we seen a great response and seeing this we are planning to open up 10 more schools in slums around Lucknow.
We will be following a tailor-made curriculum aiming towards holistic development of the child. Our key focus points are :
i. Our schools are having are based on HUT like architecture because Hut is a concept that explores the origins of architecture and its practice. The concept explores the anthropological relationship between man and the natural environment as the fundamental basis for the creation of architecture. Thus helps in keeping the organisation always grounded and close to nature in harmony with the Students and the Environment thereafter. Economically also its very cheap to build such schools with lots of opportunity to apply creativity in giving a very child friendly and interactive look.
ii. Our focus is an overall development of children and that is possible not only by providing education but also by having them to interact with each other and play indoor and outdoor games that helps build creativity and imagination inside them.
iii. Low Teacher - student ratio: This will ensure more face time with each child.
iv. Use of latest technology and resources : The child will have access to unlimited resources/information with the use of modern technology. The aim is to make the learning process a more fun-filled and result oriented experience.
v. Regular Health Campaigns.
For the fulfilment of our above objective we need fund and your support. For each school we will be needing 50000/- rupees which includes two month salary of teachers. Fund will be utilised as follows :
1. Our each school is made up of bamboos with cemented floor 2. We will be using tablets along with books for more interactive learning.
3. Two teachers will be hired for each school.
4. Books along with tables and chairs will be added.
5. White board along with projectors.
6. Uniforms for students.
7. Other accessories & Miscellaneous Expenses .
Note : The above is an estimation of one-time expenses. Running expenses amounting to Rs.30000/- per month approximately will be met by SUFI out of its internal funds and donation of members.
According to our organisational strict policy, we will keep updating and mailing you about our each step that we take with the fund and hence being accountable and responsible toward every single penny that you give to the organisation.
There are miles to go and mountains to climb before the D-day but every little step and every little penny counts!
Thank you !!
